The Inner Beginner

There’s clear benefit to practicing something over a long period of time. You can develop subtlety, expertise and can eventually discover the true art of it. But hazards arise with repetition unless you maintain ‘beginner’s mind’. When you become really good at something, you can miss new insights because of your well-established expectations. Your mind doesn’t try to figure out alternative angles of approach since it already ‘knows’ what to do. That’s why masters constantly experiment with their technique. They understand that when you know everything, you stagnate; when you try new things…

You evolve.
