Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously

You can learn a lot about yourself by wearing a costume. When ‘in character’ you’re not invested in an identity so you’re unlikely to react defensively or feel hurt if others don’t respond as you hope. If you applied this detached flexibility to the rest of your life, you could sensitively gauge the impact of your performance and modify it without feeling bad. Your primary identity is only marginally more the truth of who you are than any character you might impersonate. Operating with that same attitude of detachment will make life feel…

A whole lot lighter.
